Mushrooms of the genus Pholiota growing in a burned-out tree cavity (tree had fallen) in the Painted Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Amazing mushrooms, having all those little 'scales' looking as if they are peeling off the surfrace. The mushrooms about 1.5-2" in diameter. I had never seen these types of mushrooms before or since, nor has anyone I know, especially those who collect mushrooms regularly. Even the Michigan DNR staff I sent the image to for help identifying. They had to forward it to a mycologist (fungus/mushroom specialist) for identification.

As all my images, this comes in a variety of presentations: matted, gallery-wrap canvas and framed. They come in many sizes and can be custom-sized (virtual fitting) to your wall space. Contact me and I will guide you on selections!

This particular image is a 15" x 30" photograph printed on archival canvas and prepared as a gallery-wrap canvas presentation. This is where the image wraps around the keyed stretcher frame, the image on the edges being mirrored from the image. In this way, none of the original image is lost. The image is printed in-studio on my large format printer using pigmented archival inks. On drying, a matte/satin coating is applied to further soften light reflections, also to seal the canvas print surface from moisture. All preparation materials are archival. The image is signed/numbered on the backside of the canvas, in lower right corner, from edition of 250.
